V roce 2001 Čína ratifikovala Mezinárodní úmluvu o ekonomických, sociálních a kulturních právech (International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights), vymínila si však výhrady k právu na svobodné odbory. Mezinárodní úmluvu o občanských a politických právech (International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights) Čína podepsala, ale dosud neratifikovala.
3.3. Přehled bilaterálních smluv s ČR (včetně data vstupu) – mimo smluv dle kap.7.1.
Sukcese do smluv platných před 1. lednem 1993 byla vyřešena nótami náměstků ministrů zahraničních věcí ze dne 8. října 1994 (MZV ČR č.j.: 105.801/94-MPO).
Po vzniku samostatné ČR byly uzavřeny obchodně ekonomická dohoda, dohoda mezi ministerstvy zdravotnictví obou zemí, dohoda o vědeckotechnické spolupráci a dohoda o školských výměnách. Dohoda o vzájemném zrušení vízové povinnosti na diplomatické, služební a zvláštní pasy mezi Československou republikou a Čínskou lidovou republikou byla vypovězena ke 12. 6. 2001.
